Letter from Editor:
all right, this is the fifth time i'm going to try and send this thing out. Every time i'm about to hit the send button, "illegal operation, will shut down"--and i lose everything i already did.
So i know it's not up to peak performance, but after the fifth time of trying to fix this, even the most patient person would get annoyed. I know, the colors crappy, and the spelling's off (everytime i do spell check it says that illegal operation)--so i'm just going to add my comments to the prequel news part, then i'll send it out. FINALLY!!!
now, here is what i had orginaly written before all the computer problems:
Hi all :)--So we have a new contributor in this list... welcome TimStar!
Okay, so since I have not gotten anything in responce to the "what if?" part of the newsletter--I guess I'll stop it. Unless by some miracle, everyone e-mails me saying "No, please keep that part in here!" :) But i doubt that. So, on with the letter, questions, comments, rude remarks--all placed here:

All right, this is most likely a rumor, so don't get excited, but if it isn't, then you heard it here first! :)

'Star Wars': The Next Generation?

While we've all been concentrating on the upcoming Star Wars prequel movies, it seems George Lucas had something else up his sleeve. According to the Halifax Recorder newspaper, that galaxy far, far away that we've all come to love may be headed to the small screen not long after The Phantom Menace debuts in theaters across North America.

Speaking with sixteen year-old actor Sean O'Grady, who says he's been cast as Han Solo and Princess Leia's youngest son Anakin, the Recorder alleges that Lucas been secretly preparing a new TV series for Fox called Star Wars: Jedi Academy. The story will reportedly be loosely based on the young adult Star Wars novels written by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta. "The first show will be a two hour movie," O'Grady told the paper. "Me and my brother and sister team up with Boba Fett's grandson and Chewbacca's nephew to fight against an academy of Dark Jedi."
(i don't think so, Boba Fett never had any kids, let alone any grandkids. He was still doing the Bounty Hunting thing even in the Jedi academy books)

Cast as brother and sister Solo (Jacen and Jaina) are Boy Meets World's Will Friedle and Dawson's Creek's Katie Holmes. Young Indiana Jones' Sean Patrick Flanery is lined up as Boba Fett's heir, Zekk, who tries to make amends for all the wrongs done by his evil grandfather while fighting for good in the famous Mandalorian battle armor.
(anyone who has read those books, is probably rolling on the floor. Zekk was a Courscant orphan... thats where Jacen and Jaina met him and became friends with him. He dabbled in the Dark Side, and to get away from the Force, he started to make a living out of Bounty Hunting. Not because of his "grandfather, Boba Fett") Perhaps most exciting of all, it is said that Mark Hamill will once again play Luke Skywalker (now the Jedi Master) in the pilot, and that he will have a recurring role on the series. Luke's two assistants, Obi-Wan Bunji and Obi-Wan Street,(couldn't they have picked better names?) have yet to be cast. Dustin Diamond and Gary Coleman will have recurring parts as a pair of quirky droids, while Gary Cole will play the main villain in the pilot, a vicious darksider named Darth Bane. (was the person who made this up listening to Batman during the time? the only "Dark Warrior" was Brakiss.. he was the one who trained Zekk in the dark side.)

The Recorder reports that George Lucas, ever the industry pioneer, will use high definition technology similar to Eric Roberts' failed FBI show C-16 to transmit the Jedi Academy series. No word on when the potential series will debut, though one has to wonder whether it might take a while to reach the small screen since Lucas will have to find a way to get Holmes and Friedle out of their current TV show contracts.

Rumors
Lucas Talks ‘SW1’ by Timothy Parkans
(some info taken from Variety magazine)

Well as May 19 nears, there isnt much rumors or anything to report of on Episode 1 anymore. So this is what I dug up.Lucas revealed to the columnist from Variety magazine that the directors in attendance at that screening were Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Brian de Palma, Frank Darabont and Lawrence Kasdan, all of whom Lucas said are people "whom I trust." Lucas, with some modest also admitted that the group of directors came away from screening "blown away."
So, how does Lucas, himself, see the film as it has been coming together? Lucas revealed that The Phantom Menace, compared to the films of the original trilogy, is "the funniest as well as being very exciting and very emotional. And it’s been a fun experience. I’m very happy with it."
Lucas also revealed that he is a week and a half away from completing the film’s final 100 shots saying that he gets about 40 done each week. The director also says he’s still writing the script for the second part with plans to start production in June 2000. Since it’s being paid for out of his pocket, Lucas adds, "I have an advantage, I don’t have to go through development hell. And I don’t have to get the director’s approval." He also revealed that the next film will only take three years rather than the four it took to create Phantom Menace, for which he already says he has preliminary designs done. Saving on production time will also be due, in part, to the re-use of some of the first film’s characters, costumes, planets and sets.

Book Reviews
The Truce at Bakura

All right, I thought this book was okay, i mean, not anything i'd jump up and down for. But i thought it was pretty good. It has been a while since i read it, but of what i remember, it was kinda hard to understand. You know when you read and you just keep reading even when you have no idea whats going on?--well that was me for the first part of it. But then i got into it, and thought it was pretty good. But basically the story is these big lizards had a human "pet" and they were trying to take over the New Republic and the Empire. So the Empire and NR make a deal to take them down together.

All righty, next book is...The Courtship of Princess Leia
send in comments about it, if you have read it :)

c20 reasons why Star Wars is better than Titanicps
I thought this was soo funny...
Provided to me by: Scullycat2--Thanks darling! :)

1. Titanic's big, but it doesn't have hyperdrive.

2. Star Wars has WAY cooler action figure potential.

3. Yoda could use the Force to lift Titanic out of the water.

4. Leia is a princess, a senator, a freedom fighter, and Jedi material; Rose is just marriage bait.

5. Ewoks throw better parties than either first class or steerage.

6. When flying towards the Titanic, Wedge can't say, "Look at the size of that thing!" and really mean it.

7. It would be much scarier to get chased around the boat by a raving madman with a lightsaber as opposed to a handgun.

8a. Titanic is egalitarian by portraying poor people as sympathetic
characters. Star Wars is egalitarian by promoting bug-eyed amphibians to Admiral.
8b. Said bug-eyed amphibious Admiral manages NOT to lose his ship.

9. We know Cal is the bad guy because he sneers at the poor and treats his fiancee like property. We know Darth Vader is the bad guy because he strangles people and blows up planets for fun.

10. Yeah, Leo can dance, but can he fly an X-wing?

11. People have not lost their lives trying to re-create scenes from
Star Wars on the bow of a cruise liner.

12. Rose braves icy water to rescue her man. Leia braves Jabba the Hut.

13. Han Solo would've missed the dang iceberg!

14. There are always enough escape pods in Star Wars.

15. Do you know what the Empire does to self-proclaimed "Kings of the World"?

16. If Luke were handcuffed to a pipe below decks in a sinking ship, he would use the Force to get the key.

17. "I'd rather be his whore than your wife" just doesn't have the same sting as "I'd rather kiss a Wookie."

18. Han is frozen in carbonite and turned into a wall ornament. Leo simply freezes.

19. We knew the boat was gonna sink. But who could've anticipated "Luke....I am your father." ???

20. Two words: John Williams.
